2008: Found Objects, Dido's Attic Tailorshop & my Shoes

These are displays of objects from the attic of my late Grandfather, a Ukrainian immigrant to Canada. He was a master tailor by trade sewing fine men's suits, a skill learnt as a forced laborer during the holocaust.  After his death our family donated the remainder of his handmade suits lingering in his attic to a men's charity in Hamilton Ontario. The shoes are mine and worn and for display purposes only.

Some of my fondest childhood memories are of playing in the third floor-attic studio filled with buttons, patterns, old sewing machines, and racks of clothing. Our family didn't have a rustic bug infested family cottage on a murky lake, we had Dido's condo in Florida as he was successful enough as a master tailor to raise 4 boys, many grandchildren, own a beautiful old 3 story house overlooking a park, and have his vacation home in sunny Florida a short drive from the Atlantic ocean.
